Designing New Optimal Road Route Using GIS and Remote Sensing Techniques
Researcher: Ali Rajab Raza Supervisor: Mr. Ather Ashraf (Partner - The EWORKS Company) GIS Center, PUCIT University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan
Abstract:
GIS and remote sensing techniques can be effectively employed in the design and development of road routes. To tackle these problems, new optimal roads routes are required. Optimal roads routes provide rapid mobility for trading and traveling, either nationwide or internationally. Various conventional methods are being used to delineate road routes by civil engineers, but GIS and remote sensing technologies can more effectively be used to calculate road routes as well as geometric design of road routes.
The goal of project is the development of computerized GIS model for optimal road networks to facilitate engineers, planners, contractors and government consultants to construct roads networks. It is a proof of concept that GIS and Remote Sensing techniques can be used in designing of road route. DOWNLOAD PDF OF COMPLETE PAPER
